New King Hall Externships
The School of Law has added more opportunities for students in the judicial and public service externship programs. Students interested in acquiring experience outside of the Law School may apply for new judicial externships with Yolo County Superior Court Judge David Rosenberg '74, U.S. Eastern District Court Judge Garland E. Burrell Jr., and U.S. Northern District Bankruptcy Judge Arthur S. Weissbrodt. Judicial externships remain one of the most popular clinicals at King Hall. Students work full- or part-time as a part of the staff in state and federal courtrooms and gain the valuable experience of viewing the judicial process from the judge's point of view.
A new business and tax externship program also has been added with the Office of the Attorney General in the Department of Justice in Sacramento. Externs will draft pleadings, memos and correspondence, and interact with clients and witnesses. There will be opportunities to develop litigation strategies and attend hearings and trials with staff attorneys.
The Externship program at Davis offers a variety of placements in state and federal courts, public agencies, public interest organizations and criminal defenders' and prosecutors' offices.
