New Environmental Law Writing Prize
The Richard M. Frank Environmental Law Writing Prize, a new competition open to UC Davis law students, will be awarded for the first time this spring. The submission deadline is March 15, 2006. A prize of $400 will be awarded for a paper which makes the most significant scholarly contribution on a topic related to environmental, land use, or natural resources law or policy.
The Richard M. Frank Prize honors the contributions of alumnus Richard M. (Rick) Frank '74, to environmental law practice and education. Following positions as a staff attorney with the Federal Energy Administration in Washington, D.C., and the California Energy Commission, Frank joined the California Department of Justice in 1977. For approximately 25 years, he specialized in environmental and land use litigation, representing the State of California, its agencies and officials. He currently serves as Chief Deputy Attorney General for Legal Affairs of the Department of Justice.
