Mississippi judge's order seeking more diverse judiciary cites Dean Johnson

A federal court judge in Mississippi cited Dean Kevin R. Johnson ’s 2005 article, “A Principled Approach to the Quest for Racial Diversity,” in an order for receivership in S.E.C. v. Adams.

Judge Carlton Reeves’ order seeks a receiver for the “ill-gotten gains” of a man who operated a Ponzi scheme. The receiver would work to add more women and people of color to the federal court system in Mississippi.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law, and Professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights
