Maria Blanco Comments for NBC News on Supreme Court Vacancy

Maria Blanco, Executive Director of the University of California Undocumented Student Legal Services Center, was quoted in "Latino Legal Experts Say Supreme Court Vacancy Must Be Filled," an article on the website of NBC News concerning the stalled process of replacing the late Justice Antonin Scalia on the U.S. Supreme Court. Republican leaders in the Senate have vowed not to consider any appointee until after the presidential election in November.

"The Supreme Court is not just a legal institution, it is one of the basic institutions of the U.S. like Congress, or the Executive Branch," said Blanco. "To basically say that this institution will stop, to put the brakes on it, is just unacceptable. You just don't get to say that this one institution will not go forward with its work."
