LL.M. Graduates Return as Visiting Foreign Scholars
Jing An '06 and Daisuke Kojo '06, alumni of the School of Law LL.M. Program, returned as visiting international scholars for the 2006-2007 academic year.
Jing An is furthering her studies in international trade, economic law, business law, and trade regulation. She is working on a research paper, The Investment Dispute Resolution of ASEAN. She says the law library and librarians are a valuable resource in her work and the classes and great professors will lead her to a new level of legal study. Before attending the School of Law, Jing An received a bachelors degree in theory of law at Beijing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics in China. She also clerked for the Supreme Peoples Court of the Peoples Republic of China.
Daisuke Kojo is studying comparative law issues between the U.S. and Japan, with a particular focus on country-of-origin labeling of food and trademark protection of geographic descriptive terms of agricultural products. His paper on these topics will appear in the Missouri Environmental Law and Policy Review in spring 2007. He will also conduct research on fishery management and conflicts that arise between states. He attended the University of Tokyo, where he received a bachelor of laws degree. He worked for the Government of Japan, Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, in the Chief of Fisheries Law Section. He says that the UC Davis School of Law offers the best atmosphere for him to conduct his research.
