Law School Community Cheers Aggies on to Win Over Stanford Cardinals
A large contingency from the UC Davis School of Law, including Dean Rex Perschbacher and Associate Dean Kevin Johnson, were at the Stanford Stadium to witness the UC Davis football team's final touchdown that beat Stanford, 20-17. The Law School hosted a booth at the stadium, and many Law School alumni, students, faculty, and staff were present to support Davis as it went up against the stronger and more powerful Stanford Pac-10 team, as promoted by Stanford and sports commentators.
The Law School's Alumni Relations Assistant Sally Schwettmann '04 and Director of Development Jorja Hoehn, an Aggie Hall of Famer for basketball coaching, carried the Law School banner to the game. Hoehn said, "No one expected this outcome. It was a David and Goliath mismatch. The fact that they won is a miracle." After the game, one of the Aggie football players interviewed said the team played not just for themselves, but for all other players who have ever worn an Aggies jersey. That sense of pride in being a member of the UC Davis community was felt by all the Law School alumni, students, faculty, and staff who attended the game.
