Latinos and the Law

Kevin Johnson, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o Studies, was the keynote speaker for the conference, Latinos and the Law: Is Our Past Also Our Future?

The conference, held March 29-30, 2007, at Indiana University School of Law, addressed some of the most pressing challenges facing the Latino community, including the hot-button issues of immigration, human rights, and civic participation. During the conference, an interdisciplinary group of prominent scholars and practitioners confronted these and related issues central to the modern Latino experience. Through the lens of past experiences and lessons, they examined the future of discourse, law, and policy surrounding this growing and important population. Resulting research will be published in the Harvard Latino Law Review.
