King Hall Shines in Trial Advocacy Regional Competition, Advances to Nationals

UC Davis School of Law students turned in outstanding performances in the American Association for Justice Student Trial Advocacy Regional Competition held in Seattle on March 9-12. Two King Hall teams advanced to the competition’s finals, and one emerged as the overall champion, winning the right to advance to the National Finals.

Competing in the Regionals were two King Hall teams, one of them including Kareem Aref ’17, Cathryn Dalton ’17, Kaitlyn Jensen ’17, and Rudy Orozco Beas ’17, and the other comprised of Anujan Jeevaprakash ’18, Taylor Lindsley ’18, Molly Miram ’18, and Tanvi Shah ’18.

Coached by Ed Dudensing ’94, Joe Alexander ’98, and Andrew Collins ’15, the UC Davis teams bested law students from the University of Washington, John Marshall, the University of Idaho, UC Berkeley, the University of the Pacific, UC Hastings, and Faulkner University to advance to the finals. The team of Aref, Dalton, Jensen, and Orozco Beas ultimately emerged as champions, earning a split decision over their King Hall classmates.

The National Finals will be held in Cleveland, Ohio from March 30-April 2.
