King Hall Shines at Annual CRLA Foundation Dinner
The UC Davis School of Law was well represented at the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation annual dinner held on August 13, 2008 at the California History Museum. Among those who attended were Dean Kevin Johnson, Professors Jennifer Chacón, Arturo Gándara, James F. Smith, and Amagda Pérez '91, who serves as CRLAF executive director as well as Director of the UC Davis Immigration Law Clinic. King Hall alumni board member Charity Kenyon '77 also was in attendance. Current King Hall student Jessica Zweng '09 received the award for Outstanding Young Advocate for her tireless legal work on behalf of immigrants.
UC Davis School of Law Professor Emeritus Cruz Reynoso and alum Mary Waltermire '95 were on the CRLAF honorary committee. The event committee included alums Perez '91, Santiago Avila-Gomez '02, Mona Badie '04, Kirsten Hill '04, and Julia Montgomery '96. Deputy Attorney General Ralph Lightstone, spouse of Sacramento Superior Court Judge Emily Vasquez, was honored with CRLAF's Lifetime Achievement Award. Both Lightstone and Vasquez are longtime friends of King Hall.
