King Hall, California Environmental Law & Policy Center to Host California Air Resources Board 50th Anniversary Conference

UC Davis School of Law and its California Environmental Law & Policy Center (CELPC) will host and co-sponsor a major conference on January 19 commemorating the 50th anniversary of the California Air Resources Board (CARB). 

The event, which will be held at the UC Davis Conference Center, celebrates the CARB’s numerous past achievements and—even more importantly—predicts the board’s challenges and opportunities over its next half century. California Governor Jerry Brown, former USEPA Administrator Gina McCarthy, and CARB Chair Mary Nichols are scheduled to speak, with Governor Brown expected to deliver the keynote address. Professor of Environmental Practice Richard Frank ’74 will act as master of ceremonies. CARB Chair Nichols will be introduced by King Hall student Emily Roberts ’18.

Frank said that the CARB was “one of California’s and the nation’s most respected regulatory agencies.”

“For a half century, the CARB has pioneered air pollution control technology and control measures,” said Frank. “More recently, the board has led California’s multifaceted, ambitious efforts to reduce the state’s greenhouse gas emissions.”
