King Hall Alum Steinberg ’84 New Senate President Pro Tem

Senator Darrell Steinberg was chosen to replace Senator Don Perata as the California State Senate President Pro Tem today, February 8, 2008.

Senator Steinberg earned his JD from the UC Davis School of Law in 1984.  He taught labor law at UC Davis School of Law and was the commencement speaker in 2004 on the 20th anniversary of his graduation.  Senator Steinberg served as an employee rights attorney for the California State Employees Association for 10 years before his work as an Administrative Law Judge and mediator. Prior to his election to the State Assembly in 1998, Senator Steinberg served on the Sacramento City Council, where he founded Sacramento START (Students Today Achieving Results for Tomorrow), a free literacy-based public/private after-school program.
