Kelli Evans '94 Confirmed as California Supreme Court Justice

On Nov. 10, the state Commission on Judicial Appointments confirmed Alameda Superior Court Judge Kelli Evans ’94 as a California Supreme Court associate justice.

The Los Angeles Times, in covering Evans’ confirmation, noted Evans' status as the the first openly lesbian justice on the court. Evans will fill the seat vacated by Associate Justice Patricia Guerrero, who will become the state’s first Latina chief justice in January, after current Chief Justice Tani G. Cantil-Sakauye '84 retires.
