Judge Duong '94, Dean Amar Speak at Discover Law Event
The Honorable My-Le Jacqueline Duong '94, a Santa Clara County Superior Court judge, delivered the keynote speech and Associate Dean Vikram Amar conducted a Mock Law Class as part of the Discover Law event presented by UC Davis School of Law and the UC Davis Graduate Academic Achievement & Advocacy Program (GAAAP) on April 25 at King Hall.
The event, designed to encourage racially and ethnically diverse students to discover career opportunities in law, also featured welcoming remarks from Emilio Camacho '11, a presentation on financial aid from Associate Director of Admissions and Outreach Cristina Gapasin, and "Achieving Academic Success: From College to Law School," a presentation by Director of Academic Success Emily Randon. In addition, Camacho joined Aidin Castillo '11, Alice Cheng '10, Babert Khan '11, Jose Olivera '11, Phillip Person '11, and Shahtaj Siddiqui '10 in a panel discussion of student life.
The event was part of the DiscoverLaw.org campaign, an effort on the part of the Law School Admission Council to increase diversity in law schools and the legal profession by providing students with resources that can help them become competitive law school applicants.
