Johnson Elected to Board of Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund
Associate Dean of Academic Affairs and Professor of Law Kevin R. Johnson was elected to the board of directors of the Mexican American Legal Defense and Education Fund (MALDEF).
MALDEF is the leading nonprofit Latino litigation, advocacy, and educational outreach institution in the U.S. MALDEF's mission is to foster sound public policies, laws, and programs to safeguard the civil rights of the 40 million Latinos living in the U.S. and to empower the Latino community to fully participate in our society.
MALDEF achieves its objectives through advocacy, community education, collaboration with other groups and individuals, the awarding of higher education scholarships in law, and when necessary, through the legal system.
The 35-member board of directors is comprised of leaders from the public and private sector, government, and law firms.
