Jessica Holcombe '02 finishes third in seven-person congressional race

Jessica Holcombe ’02 drew 11.5 percent of the vote to finish third among seven candidates competing in the June primary for California’s 1st District congressional seat.

Holcombe, an Auburn business attorney and a Democrat, finished behind Republican incumbent Doug LaMalfa, who scored 52.5 percent of the vote, and Democrat Audrey Denney, who drew 17.2 percent. LaMalfa and Denney will face off in November.

Holcombe’s bid to represent the 1st District, which covers a large swath of Northern California, emphasized universal health care and a living wage for all workers.
