Immigration Policy and HR 4437

Associate Dean Kevin R. Johnson appeared on Sparkplug, a new radio show on KDRT-LP, 101.5 FM in Davis, to answer questions about HR 4437 and current immigration policy. The show will be rebroadcast on Wednesday, March 29, 4-5 p.m.

HR 4437, the controversial bill that was passed in House in December and then referred to the Senate Committee on Judiciary, proposes to amend the Immigration and Nationality Act to strengthen enforcement of the immigration laws, to enhance border security, and for other purposes. Opposition to the bill has sparked protests around the country, most recently on March 25 in Los Angeles where a demonstration drew over 500,000 people.

Johnson has published extensively on immigration law and policy, racial identity and civil rights in national and international journals.
