Immigration Law Clinic welcomes staff attorneys J.J. Mulligan Sepúlveda, Daisy Ocampo Felt

UC Davis School of Law has hired Jonathan “J.J.” Mulligan Sepúlveda and Daisy Ocampo Felt as staff attorneys for its Immigration Law Clinic. They will supervise students and serve immigrants in need of legal assistance.

Their positions are funded by a gift from the nonprofit organization Together Rising, which raised $900,000 for the Immigration Law Clinic in June through a highly successful crowdfunding effort. The gift supports two legal fellows for three years.

Mulligan, a 2015 UC Davis School of Law graduate, is embarking on his second academic year as an attorney with the Immigration Law Clinic. In his first year, he worked with rural public defender offices on immigration issues, and on impact litigation, including class action, related to the Flores settlement agreement and conditions of confinement for migrant children.

Mulligan is a former Immigrant Justice Corps fellow and Fulbright Scholar. His 2019 book “No Human Is Illegal: An Attorney on the Front Lines of the Immigration War,” is a memoir as well as a guide on U.S. immigration law.

Felt, a 2015 UC Irvine School of Law graduate, previously served as a staff attorney for Community Legal Aid SoCal in Santa Ana. There, she represented clients in immigration matters, delivered presentations to community members and service providers on pressing immigration-related topics, and trained immigration paralegals and law student interns on how to represent survivors on humanitarian applications.

Before that, she worked for Neighborhood Legal Services of Los Angeles County, and served as a law clerk for the Honorable Joan F. Lefkow of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.
