Holly Cooper Speaks on Defense of Detained Immigrants for American Immigration Council
Holly Cooper, lecturer and staff attorney with the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, spoke on the right to counsel for detained immigrants for an American Immigration Council webinar on November 8. She focused on legal strategies to prevent U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement from transferring a client, possible legal challenges to the regulation that seems to preclude lawyers from pro se assistance for immigrants, the right to counsel in solitary confinement determinations, and the right to counsel before the Department of Homeland Security during supervised release assessments.
