Holly Cooper Publishes Op-ed in Daily Journal

Holly S. Cooper, Lecturer and Associate Director of the UC Davis School of Law Immigration Law Clinic, published a commentary regarding the Syrian refugee crisis and the attempts to limit the immigration from the Middle East that have followed the November 13 terrorist attacks in Paris. The article is co-authored with Jayashri Srikantiah, Professor of Law and Director of the Immigrants' Rights Clinic at Stanford Law School.

"The U.S. and all developed countries should step up and regularize meaningful refugee resettlement in proportion to our ability to assist," Cooper and Srikantiah write. "The alternative is morally abhorrent. If we decide to value our own self-preservation over the lives of other humans, and if we decide that phantom threat of the terrorist refugee overshadows the needs of millions of humans, we will be condemned to witness unconscionable human suffering."
