The Guardian Quotes Professor Joh About Controversy in Colorado Governor's Race
Professor Elizabeth Joh spoke to The Guardian for a Sept. 3 article, "Colorado’s Republican governor nominee linked to controversial anti-sex-trafficking ministry."
The article explores how All Things Possible Ministries, founded by Victor Marx, uses private funds for cop pay and surveillance tools without public oversight. Marx is the Republican gubernatorial candidate in the Colorado governor's race.
The Guardian reports that if Marx is elected, he would have control over Colorado's state police force. Joh, an expert on private influence in state policing, said, “To whom are these dedicated sworn officers accountable?”
Professor Joh's scholarship focuses on criminal law and procedure, with a special emphasis on the police use of new technologies. She is the recipient of King Hall’s 2017 Distinguished Teaching Award.
