First Generation Advocates and Schwartz/Levi Inn of Court
The 2021-22 school year is coming to a close and events are humming at UC Davis School of Law. Yesterday, the King Hall Office for Student Affairs hosted a First Generation Advocates Class of 2024 end-of-year social. Faculty, students, and staff celebrated the end of the school year and celebrated the Class of 2024, which nears the end of its momentous first year of law school. Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Fellow Alexis Elston welcomed the group in the King Hall courtyard. I was pleased to be part of the celebration and enjoyed the festive atmosphere. Our community sure has missed being together.
Shortly after, I joined another festive event, the Schwartz/Levi Inn of Court monthly meeting. It was a special evening with King Hall students honored with scholarships from the Inn. The Inn’s president, Judge Shama Mesiwala `98, spoke highly of the amazing students.
UC Davis School of Law plays a special role with the Inn, with its membership including many alums and students. Judge Stacy Boulware Eurie `95, Ben Gevercer `18, and many others were at the dinner and program. We all were treated to a program on Modernizing California Water Law, with a presentation by, among others, Professor Rick Frank `74, a major figure in California water law and policy. Former Dean of the School of Law Bruce Wolk, joined by former State Senator Lois Wolk and son Judge Dan Wolk, also were in attendance.
