Farm-labor summit at King Hall draws international group of speakers

On April 5, experts from the UC Davis campus and as far away as Canada, Mexico and Australia gathered for the “Farm Labor 2019: Other Countries, California, and Immigration” event in the Kalmanovitz Appellate Courtroom at UC Davis School of Law.

UC Davis Agricultural and Resource Economics Professor Emeritus Philip Martin organizes the annual event. The 2019 iteration featured three panels: “Farm Labor in Australia, Canada, and Mexico,” “Farm Labor 2019,” and “Immigration and Agriculture.”

UC Davis School of Law Dean Kevin R. Johnson, an internationally recognized immigration law scholar, spoke on the immigration panel. King Hall alumna Bianca Dueñas ’16, director of the California Rural Legal Assistance Foundation’s San Joaquin Immigrant Empowerment Project, also spoke at the event.
