We will hold a panel discussion with UC Davis School of Law faculty on the 2017-18 Supreme Court decisions. Our panelists will also discuss President Trump’s nominee to fill retiring Supreme Court Justice Anthony Kennedy’s seat.
Some of the cases that will be covered include the challenge to President Trump's travel ban, Trump v. Hawaii, whether business owners can refuse services to same-sex couples, Masterpiece Cakeshop, Ltd. v. Colorado Civil Rights Commission, the issue of partisan gerrymandering in state legislative districts, Gill v. Whitford, whether it's constitutional to allow indefinite detention of immigrants in Jennings v. Rodriguez, and if non-union members who work in the public sector must pay fees to unions to support collective bargaining efforts, Janus v. AFSCME.
