Esmeralda Soria '11, James Gallagher '07 Win Assembly Races

Two UC Davis School of Law alums won California State Assembly races in November.

Esmeralda Soria (D-Fresno) won her Assembly seat after a close race against Republican challenger and former Merced County Sheriff Mark Pazin. Soria served two terms on the Fresno City Council, to which she was elected in 2014.

Longtime Assemblyman James Gallagher ’07 (R-Yuba City) easily won re-election over Democratic challenger David Zink. Gallagher has served as Assembly Minority Leader since February. Before joining the Assembly in 2014, Gallagher served on the Sutter County Board of Supervisors.

Soria and Gallagher both received undergraduate degrees from UC Berkeley before attending UC Davis Law.
