Election Plan Co-authored by Prof. Amar Examined in Washington Monthly

The National Popular Vote, a plan to address problems with the Electoral College system that was co-suggested by Associate Dean Vikram Amar, was prominently mentioned in a Washington Monthly overview of the system.  The plan, which would have states pass laws to award their Electoral College votes to the presidential candidate who wins the national popular vote, was discussed as a possible means to address the need for reform of the Electoral College without a constitutional amendment.  The plan was advanced by, among others, Associate Dean Amar, his brother Akhil Amar, also a law professor, and computer scientist and entrepreneur John Koza.
