Dean Johnson Speaks on Critical Race Theory and Immigration at Yale
Dean Kevin R. Johnson participated in a panel discussion of "Critical Reflections on Contemporary Immigration Law" as part of the Critical Race Theory and Immigration Law Conference at Yale Law School on April 16-17.
The panel discussion focused on immigration and nationality law as a case-study for the practical application and implications of critical race theory. Joining the dean on the panel were Muneer Ahmad, Professor of Law at Washington College of Law, Mae Ngai, Assistant Professor of History at the University of Chicago, and Michael Wishnie, Clinical Professor of Law at Yale Law School.
While at Yale, Dean Johnson also presented his latest book, Opening the Floodgates: Why America Must Rethink Its Borders and Immigration Laws (NYU Press 2007) at a lunch organized by the Latino Law Students Association.
Kevin R. Johnson is dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
