Dean Johnson Speaks on Civil Rights and Immigration at American Sociological Society Annual Meeting
Dean Kevin R. Johnson presented a paper on the Immigration Act of 1965 at the American Sociological Society Annual Meeting Annual Meeting held in San Francisco on August 16-19. As part of a panel discussion of the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Civil Rights Act, Dean Johnson presented his article "The Beginning of the End: The Immigration Act of 1965 and the Emergence of Modern U.S./Mexico Border Enforcement," which is forthcoming from the Immigration & Nationality Review.
Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
