Dean Johnson, Professor Aldana, Caroline Perris '22 Speak at LatCrit Conference

Dean Kevin R. Johnson and Professor Raquel E. Aldana participated in the virtual LatCrit (Latina & Latino Critical Legal Theory, Inc.) XXI Biennial Conference, held virtually Oct. 8-9.  

Johnson spoke on the panel “Toward a Critical Immigration Studies” along with King Hall alumna Carrie Rosenbaum ’02, director of Berkeley Law’s Center on Comparative Equality: Immigrant Justice. 

Aldana spoke on the all-UC Davis panel “Trauma as Exclusion: Trauma as Inclusion” along with Caroline Perris '22.

Kevin R. Johnson is the law school’s dean, Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and professor of Chicana/o studies at UC Davis. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.  

Raquel E. Aldana, Martin Luther King Jr. Professor of Law, joined UC Davis in 2017 as the inaugural Associate Vice Chancellor for Academic Diversity, with a law faculty appointment. She returned to full-time law teaching in 2020. Her scholarship has focused on transitional justice, criminal justice reforms, and sustainable development in Latin America, as well as immigrant rights in the United States. Aldana previously was on the faculties of McGeorge School of Law and Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
