Dean Johnson Interviewed on Economics of Immigration by Southern California Public Radio
Dean Kevin R. Johnson was interviewed on the economic impacts of immigration for a report on Southern California Public Radio station KPCC. Though immigration is often said to cost jobs and drain social resources, in reality it is "incredibly important to the California economy," Dean Johnson said.
"Economists will tell you in their studies that immigrants overall benefit the US economy," said Dean Johnson. "They contribute more to its growth than they take away in terms of costs, but when you hear many people talking about the cost of immigration, they often don't include the dollars and cents benefits of immigration."
Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights
