Dean Johnson Contributes Immigration Op-Ed to Sacramento Bee

Dean Kevin R. Johnson contributed an article on the need for a coherent national immigration policy to the Sacramento Bee.  The op-ed was published in the Bee's June 21 Sunday Opinion section.

Beginning with a reference to the recent rise in hate crimes against Latinos, Dean Johnson's article states that, "We need congressional action to calm the national immigration storm," and notes the failure of previous attempts at reform.  Dean Johnson asserts that undocumented immigration "is in no small part a labor migration," and that "what the United States needs to do is bring our laws concerning legal immigration more in line with the nation's labor needs."

Kevin R. Johnson is dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
