Dean Johnson Considered for California Supreme Court

Governor Jerry Brown told The Sacramento Bee that UC Davis School of Law Dean Kevin R. Johnson was one of the finalists he considered for the California Supreme Court vacancy left by the retirement of Justice Carlos Moreno.  Brown nominated Berkeley Law Professor Goodwin Liu to fill the seat last week.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law.  He became Dean on July 1, 2008.  Under his leadership, UC Davis School of Law has risen from 44th to 23rd in the U.S. News & World Report rankings of ABA-approved law schools.  He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
