Dean Johnson Comments on Supreme Court for Christian Science Monitor
Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented for the Christian Science Monitor on media coverage of the recent U.S. Supreme Court decision denying the ability of plaintiffs in a gender discrimination suit against Wal-Mart to sue as a nationwide class. The article concerns Wal-Mart's announcement that it will spend $20 billion to buy goods and services from businesses owned by women, an action some have suggested comes as a response to negative publicity following the Supreme Court decision.
Dean Johnson confirmed that the decision has received criticism in the media. "The Supreme Court decision in the Wal-Mart sex-discrimination class action has received an incredible amount of media attention, much of it negative and critical of the court's decision in favor of Wal-Mart," said Dean Johnson.
