Dean Johnson Comments on Race and Child Custody for Time Online
Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented on the role of race in child custody battles for "Healthland," a blog hosted by Time magazine online. The article examines the role of race in the custody case ensuing from the divorce of actress Halle Berry and Gabriel Aubry and touches on the historical role of race in custody battles.
"The law is fairly settled now in terms of wanting the best interest of the child - you can't consider the race of one parent alone," said Dean Johnson. "Race can play some role, but mostly in terms of which parent can best foster a healthy sense of racial identity."
