Dean Johnson Comments on Prospects for a Latino Justice in La Opinion

Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented on the possibility of a Latino or Latina being appointed to replace retiring Supreme Court Justice David Souter for the Los Angeles-based, Spanish language newspaper La Opinion.  The Dean mentioned the potential importance of such an appointment as a symbol of the full inclusion of Latinos in American society, and mentioned California Supreme Court Justice Carlos Moreno, who recently spoke at King Hall as part of the César Chávez Week Celebration, as a possible candidate.

Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
