Dean Johnson Comments on Obama and Immigration for Daily Journal
Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented for the Daily Journal on the Obama administration's record on immigration. The administration has increased enforcement without pushing comprehensive immigration reform through Congress, Dean Johnson noted.
"It's a very mixed bag as far as whether the Obama administration is really doing anything that's changing the world we live in," Johnson said. "The undocumented population is roughly the same since it started - between 10 and 11 million people - and we're deporting a record number every year. Not much has changed, otherwise."
Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
