Dean Johnson Comments on Immigration Reform for Racewire
Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented on the need for immigration reform to move forward despite the economic recession for "Racewire," a feature of the Colorlines magazine website.
"Immigration politics is always complex and dicey. There's never a ‘good' time to talk about complex and dicey issues," Dean Johnson said. "But now we have an opportunity given the recession to think about all our options, to lay everything on the table, and think about what will benefit everyone in this economy: immigrants, workers and the economy. We need to evaluate all of our options and create change based on what will benefit everyone."
Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o Studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
