Dean Johnson Comments on Immigration Law for Colorlines
Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented for Colorlines magazine on HB 56, a strict new immigration measure signed into law in Alabama last week.
"It's a wish list of restrictionist immigration provisions at the state law level," said Dean Johnson. He also commented on provisions of the new law that would prevent undocumented immigrants from enrolling in public schools and would make certain contracts signed by undocumented immigrants unenforceable.
Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
