Dean Johnson Comments on Deportation Policy for Bee, Telegraph
Dean Kevin R. Johnson commented for the Sacramento Bee and the Belfast Telegraph on the Obama administration's recent announcement that it will pursue deportation of undocumented immigrants only for those individuals "who pose a threat to public safety and national security."
"I do think the jury is out and the devil will be in the details in terms of how this is implemented," Dean Johnson told the Telegraph. "I think the president is trying to toe a middle line on immigration at a time when the different sides are very polarized."
Kevin R. Johnson is Dean and Mabie-Apallas Professor of Public Interest Law and Chicana/o studies at UC Davis School of Law. He is an internationally recognized scholar in the fields of immigration law and policy, refugee law, and civil rights.
