Dean Johnson Co-authors DREAM Act Op-ed for Sacramento Bee
Dean Kevin R. Johnson, together with National Immigration Law Center Executive Director Marielena Hincapié, published an op-ed on the Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors Act ("DREAM Act") in the Sacramento Bee. Congress is set to vote on the act, which would provide a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants who enlist in the armed services or attend college.
In an essay entitled "DREAM Act holds promise of economic stimulus for state," Johnson and Hincapié write that by offering immigrants the opportunity to acquire valuable skills and education, "the DREAM Act holds the promise of improving a sputtering economy" in California "By passing the DREAM Act, Congress can help provide a cost-neutral economic stimulus that will help the Golden State's future entrepreneurs, engineers, web designers, and community leaders to contribute fully to California's economy."
