Dean Afsharipour, Professor Patel represent King Hall at National Business Law Scholars Conference

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs Afra Afsharipour and Professor Menesh Patel presented and served as moderators on June 17 as part of the National Business Law Scholars Conference. Afsharipour also helped organize the event, hosted online by the University of Tennessee College of Law. 

Afsharipour served as moderator and discussant for a session on Competition and the Law, and Patel was on that panel to discuss “Common Ownership: Do Managers Really Compete Less?” Patel also was moderator and discussant for a session on Antitrust.

In a session on Executive Compensation, Afsharipour and Professor Darren Rosenblum of Pace Law School presented their article “Power and Pay in the C-Suite,” which is forthcoming in Inequality Inquiry. 

Senior Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Professor Afra Afsharipour’s areas of research include comparative corporate law and governance, mergers and acquisitions, and transactional law. Her scholarship has appeared in numerous law reviews, including the Columbia Law Review, the Minnesota Law Review, the Vanderbilt Law Review, and the UC Davis Law Review.  

Professor Menesh Patel joined the UC Davis faculty in 2018. His primary research interests include antitrust, corporate law, securities regulation, and capital markets. Prior to UC Davis, he was a fellow at Columbia Law School and Columbia Business School and practiced law at Sidley Austin LLP.
