Coretta Scott King, Widow of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Dies
Coretta Scott King, widow of slain civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., died at 78. After Dr. King's assassination, Mrs. King became an inspirational presence around the world. She was the commencement speaker for the 1981 graduating class at King Hall. She told the class of 152 students to stay active and to make their voices heard. The UC Davis School of Law building is named after Dr. King to honor his efforts to achieve social and political justice for the disadvantaged by lawful and orderly means.
