Congressman Huffman Discusses Environmental Law

Earlier this week, the UC Davis School of Law community welcomed (virtually) Congress member Jared Huffman to discuss "Environmental Policy, Politics and Law."

Professor Rick Frank, director of the California Environmental Law and Policy Center,  introduced the Congress member, who has a long and distinguished record of public service.

Huffman initially served as a member of the California Legislature and, since 2013, has been a member of Congress representing California’s 2nd Congressional District. Before entering government, Huffman practiced environmental law with the Natural Resources Defense Council.

Congressman Huffman had a conversation with students and community members, moderated by Professor Frank, about environmental policy, legal and political issues currently facing California and the nation

During his four terms in Congress, Huffman has built a reputation as a progressive leader and an environmental expert who focuses on making a difference. Huffman is also committed to ensuring our communities are resilient to the effects of climate change, including wildfires and droughts. He has been instrumental in defending America’s coastlines from offshore oil and gas drilling, introducing legislation to protect the Pacific and Arctic Oceans as part of a coordinated, nationwide effort to preserve oceanic ecosystems and coastal economies, while reducing our unhealthy dependency on fossil fuels.

I was honored to meet Congressman Huffman over Zoom and was glad that he was able to talk environmental law with interested UC Davis Law students.
