CILC/RFK Center Darfur Report Highlighted in NL-Aid

A joint report on transitional justice issues in Darfur by the California International Law Center at King Hall (CILC) and the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice & Human Rights  was the subject of an opinion column in NL-Aid,  a Netherlands-based online publication devoted to issues of development/international cooperation, aid, foreign aid, and political developments in Africa, the Middle East, Latin America, South Asia, and South-East Asia.

The article outlines the main points contained in the report, Toward Peace with Justice in Darfur: A Framework for Accountability, which was CILC's inaugural project, undertaken in collaboration with the RFK Center.  The report was envisioned by Dr. Mohammed Ahmed Abdallah, recipient of the 2007 Robert F. Kennedy Human Rights Award, and intended to be used by Darfuris to cope with the aftermath of the armed conflict their nation has struggled with since 2003.  It is widely hoped that negotiations between Darfur rebel groups and the government will soon result in a viable peace plan; the report explores methods for seeking accountability for persons responsible for atrocities.

The column, written by Cassandra Clifford, praises the "forward and extensive thinking" of the report and suggests that it offers "great strides in easing the people's burden as well as to prevent future atrocities."
