Capital Public Radio Interviews Camille Pannu about San Joaquin Water Quality Report

Tens of thousands of people living in the San Joaquin Valley’s unincorporated, rural, low-income communities have unsafe drinking water pouring from their taps.

Camille Pannu, director of the UC Davis Law Aoki Water Justice Clinic, contributed to a UC Davis Center for Regional Change study that assessed water systems throughout the valley. The report found that safe water is often close at hand for almost 100,000 residents who live near public systems with clean water.

Capital Public Radio interviewed Pannu about the report that found service extensions, piping and other infrastructure changes could bring clean water to these communities.

“There’s a large number of people who could easily be hooked up to clean water at a fairly low cost to the state — that was pretty tremendous for all of us to find out,” said co-author Camille Pannu.
