Campus safety task force co-chaired by Dean Johnson delivers initial report
A 32-person campus safety task force co-chaired by Dean Kevin R. Johnson has delivered its preliminary report to UC Davis Chancellor Gary S. May.
UC Davis News reported on the initial recommendations of the Task Force on Next Generation Reforms to Advance Campus Safety, which Johnson chairs with Renetta Garrison Tull, vice chancellor of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
The task force, convened by the chancellor last year after the police killings of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and other Black Americans sparked nationwide protests, has urged greater transparency and increased outreach, among several other preliminary recommendations.
The task force will continue to work until delivering its final report in June, and has scheduled a series of town hall meetings, starting Tuesday, Feb. 9.
