California Supreme Court Clinic Featured in Sacramento Bee
King Hall's new California Supreme Court Clinic was the subject of a news feature published by the Sacramento Bee on September 11. The article includes comments from Director Aimee Feinberg, clinic students Alexander Rich '13 and Kelly Volkar '14, and alumna Charity Kenyon '77, a leading appellate attorney.
Launched this fall, the California Supreme Court Clinic gives students the invaluable opportunity to work on actual cases pending before the state's highest court. "It's really a small, pro bono law firm," Feinberg said. "We will represent those who may not otherwise have access to specialized appellate counsel."
The article points out that while some law schools in California and around the country have similar clinics focused on the U.S. Supreme Court, "none is devoted to a state high court," making the California Supreme Court Clinic "the only course of its kind in the country."
California has "an important Supreme Court," Kenyon points out. "The impact of its decisions reaches far beyond the state's boundaries. This is an opportunity most law students never get."
