Bruch Comments in LA Times on Child Custody Case

Carol S. Bruch, a distinguished professor emerita and research professor at UC Davis School of Law, was quoted in the The Los Angeles Times on the controversy over the possible placement of a foster child with her biological father, a convicted sex offender. "The law makes it pretty clear that this gentleman should not have been entitled to reunification services," Bruch said in the article.

Bruch's scholarship, expertise, and activism in the field of family law and marital property have shaped state, federal, and international law. Milestones in Bruch's career include her stint as the fourth woman in history to clerk at the United States Supreme Court, a 1976 friend-of-the-court brief in the famous Marvin vs. Marvin case (which became the basis for California's nonmarital cohabitation law), service on a U.S. delegation to draft Inter-American treaties, and five years as chair of UC Davis' doctoral program in human development.
