Bee, Associated Press Quote Professor Behre in Stories on Sacramento Mass Shooting

Professor Kelly Behre, director of UC Davis’ Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic, spoke to the Associated Press and the Sacramento Bee after a mass shooting at a Sacramento church on Feb. 28.

David Mora shot and killed his three daughters, their chaperone and himself during a supervised visit at The Church in Sacramento. Mora was under a restraining order that barred him from possessing firearms.

Behre told the AP and the Bee that “court-ordered visitation with an abusive party provides the abusive party with a tool to further harm his victim through their children.”

The Associated Press story ran in the Washington Post and several other outlets.

Professor Kelly Behre is the director of the UC Davis Family Protection and Legal Assistance Clinic. She has more than 20 years of experience working with victims of domestic and sexual violence, including directing clinics at West Virginia University College of Law and the University of Alabama School of Law.
