Assoc. Dean Amar Comments on Prop. 8 Appeal for Contra Costa Times
Associate Dean Vikram Amar commented for the Contra Costa Times on the three-judge panel that will hear arguments this week in the legal battle over Proposition 8, California's same-sex marriage initiative that was overturned in federal court. Hearing the appeal for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit will be Judges Stephen Reinhardt, Michael Daly Hawkins, and N. Randy Smith.
"I don't know that he'd think it would be best for the Supreme Court to hear the case on the merits" right now, Amar said of Judge Reinhardt. "On the merits, there is not much question how he would come out."
