Assoc. Dean Amar Comments on 'Don't Ask, Don't Tell' for LA Times
Associate Dean Vikram Amar commented for the Los Angeles Times on a federal judge's order halting all Defense Department proceedings aimed at discharging gay and lesbian personnel. The Justice Department is expected to appeal on the basis that the judge's order should not apply to proceedings beyond those of the individuals who sued in her court.
Associate Dean Amar said that the judge's authority properly extended only to the plaintiffs. "The 'don't ask, don't tell' case was not certified as a class action," Amar said.
